Allardyce view on the game from BBC
"We have lost on penalties at the end of the day.

"The fans know we should've won the game. We haven't been outplayed by Sheffield United, they made life difficult for us by playing that defensive unit. That is well within their rights when they come here.

"We opened them up time and time again with patient, good quality football, but at the end of the day the end product deserted us - in the main due to their goalkeeper."

As i get older my eyes don't work quite as well as they used to , but fuck me my eyes must have been playing alot of tricks on me tonight if Allardyce is to be believed in the above statement!

We downplay the league cup, which is probably the correct decision given that the league is basically everything.

It's a shame as it really is one of only two chances of glory for all but four or five sides in the country.

Since Collins wasn't playing, who was doing the wellying? Only, I though that it was him that was the only culprit for that.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
We passed it a bit in the first half, had a few small chances. Back to the Allardyce way in the second - sit back, hit on the break, invite them on like we're a pacy, counter attacking East European side from the 70s ... except we're slow and a counter attack consists of the welly or the 'ave it.
So no passing game Dapablo no.

How do you know that, Dapablo? I didn't think there were any streams for the non attendees?

So we played the right way and the players failed to deliver, it happens, just a shame it was those twats.

We gave some youngsters and new players some pitch time, it happens.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
We were the better team on the pitch but given that we play in Premiership and they play in League One I think that it was the minimum to expect.
This is another one of embarassing defeat that Fat Sam has gifted trhe supporters, with him in charge we have been thrown out from the cups by the following teams:
Aldershot, Sheffield Wed, Nottingham and Sheffield Utd. plus a shameful performance with Wigan and two abysmal performances with Man City.
There must be something in the way the obese manager preoares the team and gets the best out of the players but he goes on about a match that we have dominated and lost because their goalkeeper was outstanding......

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Did we play passing football in the right manner and just failed to achieve or did we do otherwise?

I can't remember any brilliant saves. A couple of decent ones that you'd expect a keeper to make, that was it though. Apart from the penalty I suppose.

I only caught the game on the radio, via my laptop, but the commentators repeatedly praised their 'keeper's saves.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
No one is denying we dominated the game. Would be something very wrong if we didnt.

Its the nonsense about creating chances that people are laughing at. Other than the goal, we created one other chance. But I see why the manager says stuff like this, as people lap it up and believe it. Clever really.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
We certainly dominated the game, 1st half especially..
As for opening them up a lot?
I must have missed them apart from valencia being put through

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
It must be your eyesight. We had 23 shots, against 13, we had 10 on target, against 2 and we had almost 60% of possession. If that isn't dominating a game, I don't know what is.
Try specsavers, perhaps? :-)
The players lost it, not the system. Oh and their keeper, had a very good game.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
If he had any genuine interest in winning the game he would have had the courage to push on in the second half.

It might also help if he got off his fat arse, got out into the technical area, and showed some ENTHUSIASM for the game. Slumping in his seat like a care in the community reject is hardly likely to inspire his charges, is it?

I wonder if anybody else gets input into the subs? He seems to fuck that up more often than not... can't understand why somebody doesn't say "Erm, boss..."

Trouble is, if you accept that he can't really motivate the team, and you accept that he is afraid of his own shadow when the need to dominate a game is evident, and you accept that he can't change play with the correct subs, and you accept that he is arrogant and won't take advice from the experienced people around him...

Doesn't leave much does it? Tea Boy?

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
So speculative shots from outside the box are now classed as creating chances?

Dear oh dear, our managers nonsense really has worked on some of you hasn't it?
